Counselling Support for Christchurch, 15-03-19
We are deeply saddened by the terrorist attack carried out against our brothers and sisters in Christchurch’s Muslim community on Friday, 15 March 2019. Our hearts go out to those who are hurt and grieving, and to all New Zealanders shocked and saddened by this event.
“1737, need to talk?” is New Zealand’s national mental health and addictions helpline number. The 4-digit number is free to text or call anytime (24/7) to talk with a trained counsellor. If you or a loved one are experiencing distress and wish to talk to someone, we encourage you to take advantage of this valuable service.
In the wake of Friday’s events, the Ministry of Health and 1737 have also created resources that give advice, including how to help and support children, and help with grief. You can read more here: https://www.1737.org.nz/trauma/index.html.
