Youth Coach

  • Permanent, 32 hours per week
  • Based in Nelson/Tasman

About the role

Working in our Youth Service Team you will work with both our NEET clients who are either disengaging from school and support them to reengage with education or training and help them transition into employment, and our Youth Service clients who are no longer able to remain in the family home. You will be responsible for helping them to identify and overcome barriers, and to influence positive changes in their lives.

No two days are the same and you need to be resilient, innovative and have a passion for delivering outcomes that make a real difference in a young person’s life.

What we need from you 

  • Experience working with youth (or a relevant equivalent qualification)
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to handle conflict and challenging situations with an open and engaging manner
  • Able to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of clients and community contacts
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Empathy and resilience
  • Openness to and enjoyment of differences in values, beliefs and cultural practices
  • Be able to pass a Vulnerable Children’s Safety check
  • Be aware of issues facing young people and understand youth culture
