(Nelson) Family Worker - Counsellor Therapist

Based in Nelson/Whakatū:

  • Part time Community Family Worker
  • 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)  
  • Start date mid January 2025  
  • Based in central Nelson (Whakatū) office of PSUSI

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ke tēnei mahi (About the position)

This role will deliver clinical therapist support with a focus on providing positive strategies and practical support for parents, children and youth who are facing complex challenges. You will often work collaboratively and/ or in partnered response within our Family Works team or external agencies. This role will primarily focus on working in our Community team but may provide cover to other services such as programme facilitation or working in different settings. The flexibility to work in schools as and when required is part of this role.

Our ideal Candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant qualification and professional registration or membership to a Counselling body
  • Minimum 2 Years experience as a counselor 
  • Have demonstrated experience working with a similar client base and an understanding of the range of opportunities and challenges influencing this group
  • Have excellent communication skills and a strong ability to develop relationships
  • Have sound computer and administration skills
  • Demonstrate empathy and resilience
  • Be willing and competent to work safely with a diverse range of cultures including Māori and Pacifica 
  • Be available and eligible to work in NZ (NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident or have a current work visa)
