Bringing whānau, agencies and community together

When life is not working out on many levels for your whānau/family, it’s hard to feel hopeful about the future. If you are in touch with several local or government agencies, it may not feel like they’re all on your side.

That's where the Strengthening Families initiative can help. From local authorities to iwi and other community groups, the Strengthening Families coordinator will work with you and your whānau to bring all the agencies together.

Local Management Group

Every region has a Local Management Group (LMG), made up of central government, local authority, iwi and community group representatives. The LMG help to identify children/tamariki, young people and families who may benefit from a deeper support structure.

Through the Strengthening Families coordinator, we'll work with you to help you create a brighter, more positive future for you and your whānau.

Where to start

We're here to listen and to put you in touch with people who can help. You can drop in to one of our offices where the service is available (see below) or contact us.

A Referral and Consent form must be completed by the referring agency and then forwarded to your local Strengthening Families coordinator. Click on the link below to find the coordinator nearest to you.
