Family Worker Part Time - Mana Ake Kaimahi

Based in Christchurch (servicing North Canterbury):

  • Part time 

  • .5 FTE (20 Hours per week)

  • Wednesday/Thursday, hours negotiable

  • Based in Christchurch (Te Korowai office, Home of Presbyterian Support Upper South Island) - servicing primarily Kaiapoi based kura.

This position supports the Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow initiative. It has a particular focus on providing early intervention for children, whānau and schools, when children are experiencing challenges that are impacting their wellbeing and mental health.

Servicing primarily Kaiapoi based schools however can include Clarkville and Pegasus Schools.

The role offers stimulating and rewarding work, it provides an opportunity to contribute to strengthening tamariki, whānau and the community.

  • Have demonstrated experience working with a similar client base and an understanding of the range of opportunities and challenges influencing this group
  • Hold a relevant qualification (i.e. Bachelor of Social Work) and professional registration (desirable)
  • Have excellent communication skills and a strong ability to develop relationships
  • Have an openess to and enjoyment of differences in values, beliefs, and cultural practices

  • Demonstrate an ethusiasm for working with young people
  • Have knowledge and understanding of young pople including the opportunities and challenges they may face
  • Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation
  • Highly developed communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Have sound computer skills including email, internet, Microsoft applications and the ability to learn database systems
  • Demonstrate professional boundaries and the ability to manage confidential information with responsibility and integrity
  • Sensitivity to and acceptance of people's different values, belief and experience
  • Full clean drivers licence
  • Pass a Police Vet - Children's Worker
  • This role will attract SW Pay Equity for a successful candidate who meets the criteria within this equity framework
