Part time position - 20 hours per week (over 2.5 days)

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ke tēnei mahi (About the position)

In this role, you will manaakitanga and work alongside young people who are requiring the Youth Payment and in some instances support with accommodation and supporting our Rangitahi in reaching their goals. 

You will be responsible for helping them to identify and overcome barriers, and to influence positive changes in their lives.

No two days are the same and you need to be resilient, innovative and have a passion for delivering outcomes that make a real difference in a young person’s life.

Someone who will:

  • Be experienced working with youth and understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing this group

  • Have an openness to and enjoyment of differences in values, beliefs and cultural practices

  • Live and embody the PSUSI Values in their mahi : Aroha, Whakawhanaungatanga, Tikanga, Kaitiakitanga and Kotahitanga

  • Embrace their cultural journey and been keen to use and upskill in their te reo skill and capability 

  • Previous experience and awareness around navigating with government support agencies would be an advantage 

  • Be aware of issues facing rangitahi (young people) and understand youth culture

  • Have excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to handle conflict and challenging situations with an open and engaging manner

  • Be able to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of clients and community contacts

  • Have excellent computer skills and experience with client management documentation and systems 

  • Strong administration skills and process driven 

  • Demonstrate empathy and resilience

  • Be able to pass a Vulnerable Children’s Safety check
