Casual Day Programme Facilitators

Based in Riccarton, Linwood and Rangiora:

  • We are looking for 5x Casual Day Programme Facilitators:
    - 1x Harakeke Day Programme, Linwood
    - 2x Harakeke Day Programme, Riccarton
    - 2x Tōtara Day Programme, Rangiora
  • Day Programmes operate Monday to Friday

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ke tēnei mahi (About the position)

Our Enliven Day Programmes provide a safe and welcoming space for older people in the community to attend, to socialise, participate in activities and share a meal with others. 

The Day Programmes are responsive to the needs and values of older people living in the community. As a Casual Facilitator you will be offered casual work, to provide cover for staff on leave or sick.

In our Harakeke Day Programmes our Facilitators plan and coordinate activities and interactions for older people living with dementia. We also utilise technology in the form of Tovertafel, a virtual reality programme that projects interactive games to entertain and stimulate physical and cognitive function for our members through play. You must be I.T. literate to operate this system. 

The Tōtara Day Programmes are for older people that are socially isolated and want to connect with others. The activities are varied and may include, table top games, group activities, sing a longs and guest speakers.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an ideal applicant?)

Someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with older persons and also clients at varying stages of dementia
  • Holds a certificate Level 2-4 in Health and Wellbeing or be a Qualified Diversional Therapist. Desirable but not essential.
  • Has experience working with groups of people facilitating and organising activities 
  • Is able to work with groups of people in a calm and positive friendly way 
  • Will work alongside and support our volunteers who are valued contributors to our Programmes. 
  • Is open to, and enjoy, differences in values, beliefs and cultural practices, including gender identity, sexual orientation and differing levels of ability
  • Is committed to care for our elderly members with dignity and respect 
  • Will manage changes to the daily programmes dependent on the daily numbers
  • Be able to work well in a team environment   
  • Be comfortable and confident working with technology
  • Have demonstrated strengths in listening and communication
  • Have a desire to assist older people to live at home with dignity and purpose
