About the position / ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ke tēnei mahi 

The aim of this role is to open your home to the Dementia Mate Ware Ware Homeshare programme in the Golden Bay location. The Dementia Mate Wareware Homeshare programme offers small group day programmes hosted within a host’s home, that meets the individual needs of a group of socially isolated older people from within the community with Dementia.

The programme has a focus on providing socialisation, meaningful activities, a nutritious meal, and exercise for older persons in a safe environment suitable for people with Dementia.

Who is an ideal applicant / Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? 

Someone who will:

  • Have and understanding of and interest in working with a similar client base and an understanding of the range of needs and challenges influencing this group
  • Previous experience working with people with Dementia, understanding the individual needs of clients with patience
  • Knowledge of planning and implementation of social programmes
  • Have excellent communication skills and a strong ability to develop relationships
  • A relevant Health or Social Service qualification is desirable
  • Full & Clean driver's license
  • Have sound computer skills
  • Demonstrate empathy and resilience
  • Be willing and competent to work safely with a diverse range of cultures including Māori and Pacifica
