Poi Making Fun in Christchurch

Each March, Children’s Day brings families together to celebrate children across the country. This year in Christchurch, our team joined the festivities at Cuthbert’s Green with a hands-on poi-making activity that quickly became a highlight of the day. 

Creativity and learning

In the lead-up, staff came together to learn how to make poi, ready to share the skill with tamariki and their whānau. With generous support from The Warehouse Riccarton, which provided the resources, we were able to create hundreds of poi.

Connections and a chance to slow down.

Despite the weather cutting things a little short, the energy and connection throughout the day were something special. It was a chance to slow down, get creative, and spend time alongside families, sharing laughter, learning, and simple moments of joy.
